Ceramic Painting Basics
-
Wipe your piece down with a damp sponge
-
You can use a pencil to draw on a design, just make sure it is nice and light and it will burn off in the kiln!
-
You need to paint 3 – 4 coats of each colour to have a solid colour, once fired.
BUT be careful! More than 5 coats don’t fire well, so make sure you keep count.
Alternatively only paint 2 coats for a watercolour effect
-
We recommend painting lightest colours first OR the background colour
-
You don’t need to paint your item white, anything left unpainted will be white once fired
